Types of Offerings

IT Refresh / Operating Lease

This is a solution where IFS makes an equity investment in the equipment based on the assumption that the lessee will refresh and replace the majority of the equipment. This type of contract is typically treated as a reoccurring monthly expense over the life of the lease and includes the flexibility to return, extend or purchase equipment on a system-by-system basis at the end of the lease.

Capital / Finance Lease

This is a solution in which the lessee intends to own the equipment. The lease term is usually greater than 75% of the equipment's useful life and can include an automatic transfer of title for a fixed purchase price at the end of the lease. This type of contract is typically shown as an asset on the lessee’s balance sheet and depreciated over the useful life of the equipment.

Step / Deferred Payment Leases

These solutions are usually associated with budget constraints or unplanned purchases and are structured such that the rent may change during the term of the lease. Step-up and deferred payment leases allow the lessee to pay less or nothing, early in the lease term, and more later. These changes are known at the beginning of the lease and agreed to by both the lessor and the lessee.

Software Financing

IFS offers an Installment Payment Agreement (IPA) solution to finance 100% of Software, Maintenance, Integration & Support costs over a defined installation period. Typically, the software provider will require multiple fundings upon achievement of pre-specified benchmarks. The IPA can be treated as a loan, however, we suggest checking with your auditors for proper accounting.

The majority of all lessees cannot perform an on-time equipment return for "all, but not less than all" of the leased equipment prior to the expiration of the lease.
